Dear Members:

We had 31 members at our March meeting.  Elections were held and the results were as follows:  President:  Bob Pinckney, Vice President: Ryan Balbach, Secretary: Vacant, Asst. Secretary: Karen Erickson, Treasurer: Scott Crabtree.  The 3 board of directors are: Brett Balbach, Bill Dammeyer and Darren O.

Our final meeting of the season will be held on Wednesday, April 12th at Larry’s Chinese and American Cuisine at 66 North Street in Pine Bush at 7 pm, food will be provided.  Please note the earlier start time!
 
All raffle tickets and monies are due at the start of the April meetingIf you cannot attend the meeting, please mail your stubs and money in now to the PO Box on this newsletter or email/call me (914-213-1660) and we’ll arrange to get them.  The drawing for the Super 50/50 will be held at the April meeting.

If you joined after 2/1, I put your name on your tickets!

Adopt A Highway is scheduled for Sunday 4/23!!  We will meet at 8:30am at the Walden Lanes Bowling Alley on Route 52.  One of the bridges on Rt 52 is closed, so we’ll be working around it the best we can.  The rain date is April 30th.

Dear Members:

We had 36 members at our February meeting. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, March 8th at Kiernan’s Pub, 66 North Street in Pine Bush at 7:30 pm.

We will be having elections for new officers and Board members. The positions up are: President, Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer and 3 Board of Director positions. Both Pearl (treasurer) and myself (secretary) are at our term limits and must be replaced. If you are interested in any position, please email or call me (914-213-1660) or Pearl (845-542-6365).

** NYSSA raffle tickets are available. Only $5 each. Tickets and Money will need to be turned in at the April 12th meeting!

** Club Super 50/50 Scholarship Raffle tickets are available – $5 each – these tickets are due by the beginning of the April 12th meeting! Please send in the stubs if they’ve been mailed to you.

We need to determine a date for Spring Adopt-A-Highway. Does anyone have dates for any Fire Department pancake breakfasts in April? Please contact me.

We’ve had a few responses from the kids regarding the name of a Youth Snowmobile Club. If you haven’t responded yet, please send in your ideas.

Upcoming Events:
SnoFest – Old Forge, NY – 3/10 & 3/11 -9am-6pm – check out the 2018 models for each manufacturer, purchase next season’s trail pass for $65/sled and ride the rest of this season FREE (LOL). Demo rides available, conditions permitting! Free admission and free parking.

Snomageddon – Rotterdam, NY – Maple Ski Ridge – 3/10 & 3/12 – Cross Country & Snocross racing Saturday, Hill Climb on Sunday, Vintage Show and Vendors – $12 per person, kids 10 & under free.

Dear Members:

We had 29 members at our January meeting. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, February 8th at Larry’s Chinese/American at 66 North Street in Pine Bush at 7:30 pm.

We will be holding elections in March so volunteers are needed to be on a nominating committee. The positions up for election are: President, Vice President, Secretary, Asst. Secretary, Treasurer and 3 Board of Directors positions. The Board of Directors positions are for a three year term. Anyone interested in running for any position, please speak up at the February meeting.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
** NYSSA raffle tickets are available. Please see me to get some. Only $5 each.      Tickets and Money will need to be turned in at the April meeting! Drawings: April 2017 at the NYSSA Forum.
** Club Super 50/50 Raffle tickets are available – $5 each – See me at the meeting

The Club Trip to Lowville (Ridgeview Lodge) was the weekend of Jan 28th. We had about 33 members attend. Thankfully, it snowed all weekend long! If you have pictures, please email them to me!

We haven’t ruled out a second Club trip; we’d just like some suggestions from the members on where they would like to go.

Again, the NYSSA/ACSA scholarship application is available. There are 2 – $500 scholarships and 2 – $1000 scholarships.   The application must be received by February 17, 2017. An application is attached to this email and I will have a few applications available at the next few meetings or get it online at www.nysnowmobiler.com

Governor Cuomo announced the free weekend in NY will be Feb 3rd -5th. The only benefit we get from this weekend is to ride in Old Forge without the requirement of the additional Trail Permit!   Something to consider!

Please remember to save all your gas receipts for gas used in your snowmobile! We are entitled to a refund of $.08/gallon! I just sent in receipts and we’ll be getting back $29, so save those receipts!! Funds must be donated into our Club.

Parents, we are looking to form a Youth Snowmobile Club – we are asking the kids to name their new Club. A form is attached — if you can print it out and ask you children to come up with a Name!   Or email the suggestions!

Dear Members:

Happy New Year!!  We had 27 members at our December meeting.  Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, January 11th at Larry’s Chinese/American at 66 North Street in Pine Bush at 7:30pm.

The Christmas Party was a great success!  Thank you to all those that attended and brought a dish.  Please send me your pictures or post them to our Facebook page!

NYSSA Super Raffle Tickets are still available.  These tickets only cost $5 each and there are too many prizes to list.   This raffle is also a fund raiser for our club.  Please pick some up at the January meeting or contact me and we can mail you some!  Don’t forget the club’s Super 50/50 Raffle tickets also; this drawing will be held at our club meeting in April.

A Club Trip has been planned to the Ridgeview Lodge in Lowville, NY for January 28th -29th.  The block of rooms has been released.  Let me know if you plan on attending and the # in your party!

Dear Members:

We had 32 members at our November meeting. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, December 14th at Larry’s Chinese/American at 66 North Street in Pine Bush at 7:30pm. The club will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for a local toy drive, Operation Dalmatian. Food donations will be accepted as well at the December meeting.

The annual Christmas party will be this Saturday, December 3rd starting at 5pm (appetizer hour) at the Shawangunk Fire House at 2150 Bruynswick Rd in Wallkill, NY; dinner will be served between 6 – 6:30pm. The Club will be providing the main entrees and non-alcoholic beverages otherwise, BYOB.   Attendees are asked to bring either an appetizer or a dessert. Please RSVP if you haven’t already by calling/texting me at 914-213-1660 or email today! If you are available to help set up Saturday morning at 9am – please contact me! There will be penny social like tables and a few raffles for fundraising. If you would like to donate an item for the auction or penny social, that would be great! Santa Claus is expected to stop in as well. There will be no grab bag this year.

Onondaga Raffle tickets are still available. This is an easy fund-raiser for the club. See me at the next meeting to get some tickets. The Club’s super 50/50 tickets are also available. Thank you to all those members that have mailed in your ticket stubs already!

The NYSSA/ACSA scholarship application is available. There are 2 – $500 scholarships and 2 – $1000 scholarships for graduating seniors or those already enrolled in college. The application must be received by the end of February.  Application is attached for those who receive this via email.  Otherwise,  I will have a few applications available at the next few meetings or get it online at http://nysnowmobiler.com/membership/nyssa-scholarships/  It’s last year’s application, but it will work!

A For Sale list went out via email on 11/23, it’s attached again. Any items to add or delete, contact me.

Snowmobile Safety CourseSunday, December 4th at the Shawangunk Valley Firehouse – anyone 10 years old and up can take the course (This course is a must for children aged 10-17 to ride their own snowmobile!)  – it’s from 8-4, please bring own snacks and lunch.  You MUST pre-register by contacting Pearl — pearlb1@frontiernet.net or call 845-542-6365 and leave a message!!  Spread the word……..we’re up to 8 people so far!

Club Trip – scheduled for Ridgeview Lodge in Lowville – January 28th – January 29th.  Saturday is the Club Ride!!  You must call and make your own reservation – tell them you are with the Shawangunk Snowmobile Club (there is a block of rooms set aside).  Call 315-376-2252 to make your reservation.  These rooms are only being held until December 31st and they are first come/first serve!  Do not wait.   (A second Club trip has not been ruled out – still asking for suggestions)

There is a Public Information meeting at Onteora High School Thursday, December 1st from 7pm-9pm concerning an 11.5 mile recreation trail along the Ashokan Reservoir. If you are able to attend, that would be great to get some snowmobilers input at the meeting! Dear Members:

We had 40 members at our October meeting. Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 9th at the Larry’s Chinese/American at 66 North Street in Pine Bush at 7:30pm.

We will be collecting canned/non perishable goods at the November meeting for Thanksgiving baskets for local families. Please donate; this is a very good cause.

The Club Safety Course will be held Sunday, December 4th from 8am-4pm at the Shawangunk Valley Fire House at 2150 Bruynswick Road in Wallkill, NY. This class is for any youth (aged 10 & up) and adults. You MUST pre-register. Please contact Pearl to register 845-542-6365 or by email – treasurer@shawangunksnowmobile.com . Please bring your own lunch and snacks!

The Club Christmas Party will be held on Saturday, December 3rd at the Shawangunk Fire House, in Wallkill. It typically starts at 5pm with appetizers and dinner will be served at 6pm, the schedule will be confirmed at the November meeting, as well as the menu. Attendees will be asked to bring an appetizer or dessert. If you plan on attending, please RSVP as soon as possible so we can obtain a head count.

The Club Scholarship Raffle ticket sales are going well. Thank you to all those members that have joined/renewed and sent in your tickets! If you’d like to sell additional tickets, pick some up at the meeting. The Onondaga Super Raffle tickets will be available at the meeting, please grab some to sell. This is another great fundraiser for the Club.

The Fall Picnic was held on Sept. 25th. We had about 25 members and their families attend. Thank you to everyone who attended, brought a dish and helped with set up and clean up.

The Fall Adopt-A-Highway is scheduled for Sunday, October 16th. We will meet at the Walden Lanes Bowling Alley on Route 52 at 8:30am. Volunteers are always needed!

If interested in ordering any Club Clothing this season, please see Darren O at the meeting or email me and I’ll forward your information to him!

I’ll gladly start a For Sale list, if needed. Please send your pictures and information!

Did you read NYSSA’s September’s issue of the online magazine? There’s a petition inside requesting the Boreas Tract of Lands to be classified as Wild Forest.
